About the Idabel
Chamber

Established in 1945, the Idabel Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture has served as the cornerstone of economic development and community advancement for over 80 years. As the premier destination for visitors and businesses entering our vibrant southeast Oklahoma community, the Chamber provides comprehensive information and professional assistance regarding opportunities and services throughout the region.

The Chamber operates through ten specialized committees addressing critical areas ranging from education initiatives to strategic business development, ensuring comprehensive support for both our local business community and visiting stakeholders.

Our organization is governed by a dedicated 16-member board of directors, supported by a four-member executive team and led by our executive director. This leadership structure ensures strategic oversight and responsive decision-making. The board convenes monthly on the third Tuesday at 3:00 p.m., maintaining consistent governance to serve our community’s evolving needs.

The Idabel Chamber of Commerce was founded by twelve visionary businessmen who recognized the importance of promoting community development, supporting agriculture, and fostering sustainable economic growth. Originally located on South Central Street, these founding members established a legacy that continues to guide our mission today.

We honor our founding members: Percy Martin, Louis Kirk, Malcom Butler, CR O’Neal, IK Wilson, SB Helms, Frank Wooten, Mose Fine, Travis Guthrie, Russ Dugan, RC Baum, and WA Loftin. Their commitment to community development established the foundation upon which we continue to build.

In 2002, the Chamber relocated to its current location at 7 SW Texas Street, a newly constructed replica of the town’s historic depot, which had been demolished in 1984.

Today, the Chamber maintains over 200 members and demonstrates strong financial sustainability through fundraisers, festivals, pageants, and corporate partnerships. We remain committed to our founding purpose: to promote and advance the industrial, commercial, agricultural, and labor interests of Idabel and McCurtain County while fostering united and collaborative relationships among our members.

Through our dedicated committee structure and professional services, we continue to fulfill the vision established by our founders over eight decades ago, serving as the primary resource for residents, businesses, and visitors alike.
